Knights flyer stars with hat-trick with finals hopes alive

The Knights have kept their slim finals chances alive, defeating the Titans 36-14.
Young winger Fletcher Sharpe was the star, scoring a hat-trick to seal the win.
Coming into the game, the Titans hadn’t won at McDonald Jones Stadium since 2016 while Kalyn Ponga had scored six tries in eight games against the side.

The Gold Coast started the match on fire when Jojo Fifita burned Ponga in the sixth minute.

Then the Knights started to get in their groove with Ponga scoring a first-half double as his side led 12-4 at the break.
Inside the first 10 minutes of the second half, Sharpe went over for his three tries, making it eight tries in four games for him at the ground.

Phoenix Crossland then scored his first try since round 23 last year in the 56th minute to make it 30-4.
The Titans gave themselves a glimmer of hope with Fifita scoring again along with Jaylan De Groot.
But the Knights finished off strong when Leo Thompson barged over De Groot to score the final try and seal a 36-14 win.
Newcastle is now well and truly in the finals hunt, sitting equal on 28 points with the eighth-placed Dolphins.
